A Case of Xanthogranulomatous Sialadenitis with Facial Palsy Mimicking Malignancy

Parotid mass with facial palsy is often suggestive of malignancy. Facial present in 12% to 19% patients a malignant parotid regardless tumor size. Xanthogranulomatous sialadenitis rare chronic inflammatory disorder. This characterized by suppurative granulomatous inflammation and progressive destruction the normal parenchyma. Since its first report 1993, xanthogranulomatous has been reported no more than 10 reports abroad, our knowledge, it never Korea. It hard distinguish clinically from malignancy because they have similar clinical symptoms radiologic findings, so should be diagnosed pathologic methods. With review literature, authors case considered 62-year-old, who complained painful right ipsilateral palsy. The patient was managed superficial parotidectomy conservative antibitoic therapy.
